EMBRACE

EMBRACE is the Electronic Multibeam Radio Astronomy Concept. The project was initiated by ASTRON in the Netherlands, and became part of the European Square Kilometre Array Design Studies with contributions from France, Germany, and Italy. EMBRACE is a dense phased array operating in the band 900 MHz to 1500 MHz. There is a 100 m2 array at Westerbork in the Netherlands, and a 70 m2 array at Nançay in France.

Here is Philippe Picard, leader of the team for EMBRACE@Nançay from 2005 to 2011. He is surrounded by 46 EMBRACE tiles on 22 July, 2010.

For detailed information on EMBRACE, here is the paper published in Astronomy & Astrophysics in 2016.
