Nançay Radio Astronomy Facility

The 11th February, 2010, was a snowy day at Nançay. In the background on the left are the large mirrors of the Decimetric Radiotelescope. Running along the centre are the dishes of the North-South arm of the Nançay Radio Heliograph. In the foreground on the right is the old Würzburg RADAR antenna which was recovered after World War II and moved to Nançay. Radio astronomy began in France in the 1950’s with this Würzberg dish.
